Recollection

The sweet vanilla aroma tickled my nostrils causing my nose to twitch. Comfortably I clutched the thick comforter within my grasp and rubbed my face deeper in its warmth. It was one of those moments that you just want to go back to sleep and continue off where you left off....and for me that was with... I froze, my eyes widening underneath my mess-like nest of hair. Was it a dream or was it real?

The last thing I remembered was crying myself into oblivion until... Eric. He came over and...

All of a sudden I wanted to hide underneath all of the blankets. The kiss still felt fresh on my lips even though it had been hours. What had I done? I looked under the sheets of my bed to see myself halfway clothed. Thankfully I was still wearing my sweatpants, but my shirt was nowhere to be found.

Movement at my doorway caught my attention and I saw Eric looking directly at me.

"Flora." He smiled softly and sat on the edge of the bed beside me, his hand resting on the top of the blankets upon my lap. "Good morning."

The sun's rays shining behind him silhouetted his figure slightly. I felt oddly uncomfortable with his hand on my lap after what had happened last night... I couldn't remember what happened oddly. I could only imagine it was the emotional adrenaline that took over me.

My lips tried to form words, but nothing came out at first, only the empty wordless breaths. "I-Im sorry." My voice cracked and I  put my face in my hands. If I could cry I probably would have, but I was out of all genuine emotion. All that overwhelmed me now was the embarrassment that I slept with my only best friend I had left, my boyfriend.

"Hey, hey." He took my hands in his and looked into my terrified eyes. "What's the matter? Flora. Talk to me."

"I..." I looked away sheepishly. "Last night was a mistake... I didn't meant to... I wanted to wait." I said, my voice almost a whisper now.

"Mistake? You mean..." He shook his head in disbelief. "I mean... sure, we kissed... Okay, well..." He scratched the back of his neck. "Maybe we more than kissed. Made-out, is more like it. But I can assure you nothing happened."

"No?"

"No." His expression softened. "Don't you remember?"

I shook my head and he proceeded to tell me of the events that really took place and suddenly it all started to come back to me.

*What really happened that night*

[stay tuned to see what happens next]

The End
