“Ow ow. Mom, please be gentle.” Meir got a stern look from his father but I placed my hand on my head knowing that Meir would get in trouble for something he DID NOT do to me. Mom freaked out and didn’t touch me but her hands hovered over me like she wanted to touch me to make sure I was real and okay.

“What happened? Are you okay? You don’t look so well Jun.” I smiled at her as my head pounded.

“I uh, I think I have a concussion and I have this huge headache but otherwise I’m fine.” She couldn’t know about my eyes. I didn’t know what was going on with that and I would talk to someone else about that later. Someone I knew couldn’t lie to me. She frowned and reached up to touch my forehead and tsked.

“You’re burning up Jun. Who let you get out of bed?” Meir raised his hands.

“He wouldn’t let me contain him. I did not wish to die. He was determined to get here.” I smiled slightly as did my parents. Mom slapped my cheek gently before rubbing it.

“Silly boy. We were fine here. The Grimshaws are very kind to us.” I sighed and wrapped Mom in a hug, thankful she was okay. Mom had always been so small and I got most of my traits from her but I definitely got my protective streak from Dad. He was a beast in human skin and it actually surprised me that he wasn’t a werewolf.

“I just...” I couldn’t tell her that I wanted to protect her from the vampires and everything else that wanted to harm her, I didn’t know how much she knew and frankly, I didn’t want her to know that I knew anything besides ghosts.

The End
