“I am not an only child.” I gave him a disbelieving look.
“Oh, I’m sure. Guess I hit a nerve, did I?” He appeared in my face and my heart pounded in my chest.
“You will never mention that again human. Mother and Father have forbidden those who live in this village of muttering such things, you are not to be excluded from this.” Holy mother of god, I thought I was going to die right then and there! I forgot that he could drain me in seconds for a minute there. I passed him again back to the station to find that all the food I had made had disappeared and saw the empty trays laying around the room and the other students trying to hide them. I started to clean the counter again and I felt him behind me. “Where did you learn to clean so proficiently?” He asked and I smiled slightly.
“My Mom.” He frowned at how little I had said.
“And? She taught you, the child who is to inherit the family name to clean? She didn’t hire someone else to clean the house when you were away?” I turned to glare at him because of his question.
“What? Just because I’m a guy and my Mom is a woman she is expected to slave away at home and do all the chores just because she is able to push life out through her vagina? No, that is not how my family works. I help out around the house because it is the right thing and don’t you dare insult my Mother like that ever again. She is beautiful and amazing and could kick your ass, vampire or not. I know that she can kill a man with two fingers because she’s had to do it before on the job, so shut it.” I scrubbed furiously at the counter top and he began to laugh.
