Lifescape: Prologue
She's on her way home; it's been a long day. A young woman born and raised in rural southern Utah. Educated in northern Arizona, city of Page. Now, sitting in her brother's car, gazing out the window, a set of deep, dark brown eyes fall upon the nighttime beauty of a place known by the heart as home.
Pale blue rays cast rocky shadows, whispering a story of moonlight. Their pages revealed a small canyon: weaved by a small creek. Sheer rock, a drop off to murky water. The fear of a rock slide: everything crashing down. A pink hue gently tinting the canyon walls, the small voice silently urging her not to let go. Steadfast mountains nearby kept a wary eye on the small town nestled beneath them as a pack of coyotes paced nervously down the streets, an occasional chorus of howls erupting from them. Above, the deep blue of a night sky lay a starlit blanket over weary residents, bidding all underneath a good nights rest.
The love, the hate, the promise of something new. The happiness, the confusion underneath. Caring or carefree, these are the secrets of the land.
And her name is Ashley Lynne Rankin.
