“But I don’t understand. Mike, we are already practically a couple. We act like one. Everyone tells us how well we suit each other and how we should be together. We don’t even have to go public. All I’m asking is for you to tell me what is going on.”
“I don’t see why we have to label this. What we’ve got, right now, is brilliant. For both of us.”
“Well not for me. I’m not single because if I was, I could go out right now, flirt with every guy I see and if something was to happen, you‘d flip and lose it with me. You wouldn’t speak to me every again. Yet, I’m not in a relationship because you just don’t seem to want to be seen with me when we are at a party with our friends and you always tell me to do what I want to do. Also, the constant reminders of ‘we aren’t together’ hit it home.” The anger inside you is starting to bubble up, you can feel it. How can he completely mind fuck you, yet try and make you feel bad about bringing this up. You even warned him a few months back that you were worried about getting too attached and all he had to say to that was ‘it’s not a bad thing’.
“You can do whatever you want. I’m not stopping you.”
“See! That is what I mean. I want to be able to call you mine; my boyfriend. I’m so fed up with the constant secrets and it’s tiring having to lie to people all the time about us. Our friends aren’t stupid to not suspect something is going on between us.”
“It’s none of their business Lu, for fucks sake!” You can hear the pure raw emotion in his voice now, and it’s not good.
The anger now is bubbling in both of you. You feel as if his eyes are trying to burn a hole right through your skull. You realise just how loud you both have become also. Surrounded by thick bushes, high trees and a lake that stands between you and the rest of the world now, you seem to have transported to your special hidden space. You both must have led one another here, whilst trying to ‘talk’ about what is going on. You think back to how you found this place, how it was all just a beautiful accident.
