“It’s not matron,” Lou said he waved and vanished. Sylver went to answer the door.
“Gabriel” he said a tall angel followed him into the bedroom. “This is Raoul Raven.” The angel bowed his dark hair falling into his face, Gabriel just glared at him.
“And what do you want?” the prince growled.
“I was sent by her majesty, I'm matron’s son.”
“And?” Gabriel was getting irritated.
“And um…” Raoul took a breath and stepped forward.
“And” Sylver said “matrons busy with mother” Raoul nodded and Gabriel looked at the skinny angel.
“You came to tell me that?” he asked.
“No sire.” Raoul said “I am a fully trained healer.” Gabriel smiled.
“You’re joking right?” he said.
“No sire” Raoul said seriously.
“Gabriel, Raoul is trained and you need a healer who isn’t totally drained.” Sylver said.
“Then I will wait.” Gabriel growled looking away from the two angels in the doorway.
“Gabriel,” Sylver sighed “please?”
“No” Gabriel snapped Sylver sighed again.
“I don’t think you're going to win” he put an arm on Raoul's shoulder and led the young angel from the room.
“Why not let him look at you?” Dawn asked.
“Because I don’t want him too” Gabriel growled Dawn shook his head. “I will wait for matron.”
“There’s no point.” Sylver said reappearing in the doorway Gabriel looked at him and frowned. “The infirmary is full.”
“What?” Dawn said in disbelief. “How?”
“All the wards are full to the point that they're setting beds up wherever they can.” Sylver said “the dehydration got a lot of the palace staff and there were riots while we were away. All of the city healers are here and pretty much passing out where they stand.”
“He should be there then” Gabriel said looking at Raoul who was standing beside Sylver. Dawn thought the young angel looked exhausted anyway.
“Mother ordered him to look at you,” Sylver said.
“I don’t care I'm ordering him to go away.” Gabriel growled “if its that urgent down there then he should be there.”
“sire.” Raoul said, “Please let me at least change your dressings before I go back.”
“I said no” Gabriel said firmly.
“I’ll tell you what,” Dawn said “wait in the lounge Raoul and I’ll change the princes bandages. How does that sound?”
“Better” Gabriel said, “but only just.”
“And who exactly are you?” Raoul asked Dawn frowned and held Gabriel's shoulder as the prince began to try and get up.
“Raoul” Sylver snapped “that was incredibly rude.”
“Rude?” Dawn snarled “it was plain disrespectful.”
“I am sorry sire.” Raoul said glaring at Dawn.
“This is Dawn” Sylver said “he is his highnesses man at arms.” Gabriel watched Raoul raise one eyebrow.
“Then I apologize Dawn” he said not sounding sorry at all.
“Get out” Gabriel growled, Sylver pushed Raoul from the room closing the door.
“What did you think you were doing?” he asked gently “you can’t speak to Gabriel like that.”
“I am sorry” Raoul said “I just have things on my mind.”
“What could you have that makes you so rude?”
“My father,” Raoul said dully “he was killed in the riot yesterday.” Sylver sighed,
“I'm sorry” he said steering Raoul to the couch he sat him down.
Gabriel growled as Dawn moved to unwrap the thick bandages around Gabriel's arm.
“Please?” Dawn said gently Gabriel shook his head.
“I just want to sleep now.” He said tiredly settling back into the pillows. “I’ll wait until matron is here then I can also tell her how rude her son is.” Dawn sighed.
“Alright” he said “but if she's not here tomorrow will you let me look at you?”
“Whatever,” Gabriel said as he closed his eyes.
