Thirst
Leah:
My black eyes, hungered with thirst, searched for an easy target. Flames burned in my throat, my hand went to touch my neck. I hadn't drank in four days, it was maddening.
I spotted a girl thirty feet away, easy to get to. Just two leaps and I'd have her. I could taste the blood on my lips, calming my hunger.
I stood still as she came closer, drawn by my magnetic pull. I crouched then sprang. I was on top of her. I lifted her hair and slipped it behind her. I sank my teeth into her skin. Warmth spread through my body. I took my lips away and wiped the left over blood on my sleeve. I tossed the girl into the bushes, and pulled leaves and twigs over her limp figure. Next stop, Hunger Park.
