When I arrive back to my mansion, the wedding reception is in full swing. This is where I have to strike. My brother, one of the greatest strongholds to my father, must fall. When I walk into the ballroom, everyone stands and bows. I continue to walk to the head table and finally take my seat. My brother is not at the table yet, he is still mingling. What my brother doesn't realize, is that before I returned to the mansion, I had a friend make something for me. A nice vial of sweet poison. The poison was tasteless and odorless, which makes it getting into his wine a lot easier. My brother turns and waves at me. Surprising that he can act like nothing ever happened between us. I put the lid back on the vial and slip it back up my sleeve.
"Evelyn, I never thought this day would come." My brother said to me hugging me.
I wrap my arms around him, pulling him closer to me, "Cut the sh*t. You're only being nice to me because you know father doesn't exist within the Kingdom anymore. You know I am your last hope." I whisper in his ear.
"Yes, it's true. I am trying to rebuild our relationship because I know I am losing my political power. But you are my sister, and I want the best for you." He whsipers to me.
I let go of him and take my seat again. Lucas goes back to mingling. I slip the poison out of my sleeve, and while no one was watching, put it in my wine and switched the glasses. The poison that he was about to ingest was a slow acting poison that took exactly four hours to finish the job. And believe me, I had the time.
I got up again and walked over to Christina. There was something I just I had to tell her. Something that was very big, something that my husband didn't even know yet. I was about to tell Christina that I was pregnant.
Christina looked at me, "What is it Evelyn?"
"I need to talk to you. Meet me right outside of the ballroom." I say showing no emotion.
Christina, looking unsure, followed me outside of the ballroom.
"Now, what is so important that you just have to tell me?" Christina said looking unsure of what I was about to say.
"Christina, you are the first to know this, so please, feel honored. Christina, I am pregnant." I say smiling.
Christina's face was expressionless at first, but then she got the biggest smile ever on her face. No words after that were exchanged. All we did was hug. We hugged and cried and hugged some more. Christina and I both knew that know, we have something worth fighting for. We would fight for my city, for my child.
