Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Words of Destinymature

- Prologue

"I now pronounce you husband and wife."

We turned to face each other, and I smiled underneath my veil. Kurtis gently lifted it from my face, and kissed me tenderly on the lips. Then, once the few guests (Winston, Alistair, Father Patrick Dunstan, Rebekah, and a few old school friends) had left, we walked slowly out of the church, hand in hand. I also invited various aunts and uncles, and other members of the Croft family. I wasn’t at all surprised that no replies came. As far as they were concerned, our feud was not over.

"Lara, can you believe we're married? I can't!"

"Well, I never thought I would see the day. I must say you look ravishing."

"As do you, Lara."

We both laughed.

"Come on, we've got a reception to get to. Then the honeymoon suite." He winked. I

chuckled a little, and he opened the door to the Rolls Royce.

I gingerly lifted up the skirt of my dress. Despite previous misgivings, I had eventually decided to wear a 'proper' wedding dress.

The car started, and I rested my head on Kurtis' shoulder.

Looking out of the window, countless thoughts came to mind. I didn't say it out loud, but within I secretly hoped, that wherever Mother and Father were, that they were proud of me.
