Morning. The sky is blue, the sun is blistering hot and the birds are singing. Near the lake a part of the grass comes up, and a pair of eyes searches the area. It’s safe, for now. The figure pushes the grass up, and then checks the area again. It’s definitely safe. After a sigh of relief she turns around to see Ari.
“Ahh!” she yelps and jumps back, she felt her heart skip a beat.
“Did I startle you there?” he asks in a cheery tone.
“Just a little” she recovers quickly, and now ready for the day ahead of her.
“Are you hungry?”
“Err… yeah” she feels her stomach rumbling and now realises that she is ravenous.
“We’ll go back to the mountains, you can grab some fish, then make a fire, how does that sound?”
“Great” the idea of having something different from rattlesnakes puts a smile on her face. They set off into the trees beyond the lake. It is now a five mile walk to the mountains.
Just through the trees they can see the gushing river with fish jumping down the bank. Sky runs to the edge to see hundreds of fish. Desperate, she snaps a twig from a tree and goes back to the edge. She poises the twig behind her back, ready to stab it in the water and hopefully bring some fish up. Within the next second she pushes it hard into the water and straight back out spraying herself with water in the process. On the end of the stick is about fifteen fish struggling for there lives, blood pouring down the stick. Sky smiles to herself, breakfast.
“Well done Sky” Ari praises her smiling.
“I want more” Sky thinks out loud. Ari watches with bated breath as she does it all again. But this time collects more than the first time.
“Is that it?”
“Yeah” smoke comes from the trees ahead of them.
“I see they’ve made a fire, come on” Ari leaps over the raging river, Sky then copies him. Then off they set again. The mountains are in view now, and more wolves, his pack. Ari runs ahead to greet them. However it is a new start for Sky, she’s come back, and this time she means business. She wants to get the emerald dagger back and make everything right. But they just need to find it.
