You wet your finger and lick your hair into shape. It looks kind of neat.

You knock on the door. After a while you see a woman's face peering out at you. She is wearing a mob cap like women used to in the 18th century. She just stares. You knock again. She disappears. You then see two faces peering at you from behind the glass in the door: the same woman plus a much older man with white hair and a white beard. You knock on the door again. She goes away. He goes away but comes back. You knock on the door again and he opens it and looks you up and down suspiciously.

"And next time be a bit smarter about opening the door!" you say.

You ask where your crown is.

You know all that irritating bulk mail you have to dig through to reach your bills and court summons every day? I was picking up my mail one morning and thought about what would happen if I actually followed the directions inside of one of those blasted things.

As an aside, let's try and keep at least one "avoidance" thread going as long as possible, even if it forks this way and that. I'd love to see how many different ways our protagonist can avoid following the suggestion of the award notice. It's good for comic relief. :)
