Chapter Two:

Without A Doubt

I took a while to get to sleep that night. Thinking over the events that day made me even more nervous about seeing him again, at the same time I really needed to see him. Just to see him. I sighed continually, but I eventually got to sleep.

I woke up early the next morning. He haunted my thoughts and my dreams. I got up and put on my uniform quickly. I decided to go to school early in hope that I wouldn't bump into him. My nerves were taking over me, they exceeded the need to see him by miles. I ran into form and slammed open the door. I expected an empty classroom. Instead, there he was. Sitting in the seat next to mine, grinning. I blushed, his grin grew.

I walked slowly to my seat and sat down.

“Sorry, I didn't catch your name yesterday. What was it?” he asked.

“Um... Its Etoile.” I said.

He looked puzzled. “Is that French?”

“Yeah it is actually. Its French for star.” I smiled.

He blushed and looked at his desk. I looked puzzled

“Did you get home from school okay?” he asked, obviously embarrassed.

“Yeah, usually I have enough time to run away.” I grinned.

“Well, just I case, I will now escort you to and from school.” he said.

I stared at him. “And what gives you that right?”

He looked so surprised it was cute. “... Well you know I am the future emp-” I cut him off.

“That means nothing here and now. You want to be normal. So I will treat you like anyone else I know.” I held my head high.

He blushed. “But” I began “Seeing as I am interested in the matter. I will accept your offer.” I finished, smiling.

He looked up and smiled back. What a pretty smile he had. I heard the door open, I looked over. It was May. Oh no! May! She'll go all googly eyed. I sighed. He looked at me. As if saying “What's wrong?” I smiled at him sympathetically. He was going to get it.

“Ooooo” May squealed. “Who is you're new friend Etoile?” She giggled and sat beside him. She curled her finger around his hair. “I love the colour of your hair!” she giggled again, fluttering her eyelashes. Yuri backed away. He shot a look at me. Saying “Help!” I stared at my watch.

“Oh! Look at the time. We need to get going Yuri!” I said, standing up quickly and grabbing his wrist. “But wai-” May shouted as I dragged him out. I slammed the door and ran around the corner to a small alleyway quickly, in case she tried to follow us.

“W-what just happened?” he said. “Who was that?”

“That is May. Be careful she has been known to stalk guys.” I joked. He took me seriously. This made me laugh even more. He looked at me strangely. Then stared down at you hands. I had grabbed his wrist and somehow it had slipped so we were holding hands. My cheeks turned tomato red as I shook my hand away.

He laughed. He actually laughed at it! I was so embarrassed.

“Sorry.” I whispered.

He leant forward, so his face was closer to mine. “Don't worry, I don't mind.” He said as he winked. I blushed even harder. Which made him laugh even more.

“Maybe we should go see the Principal.” I said. After we both recovered. “ Do you want to go home?” I asked.

He thought for a moment. “No. But I do not want to go back to class.” He said.

“Okay, lets go tell the teacher then.” I quickly ran there and persuaded him to give us another day. My heart was pounding. The thought of him waiting for me. I smiled to myself. I went back to him, he was on his phone. Talking Japanese. He saw me and put down the phone. 'Okay' I though.

“I saw the teacher. He said we can have the rest of the day off, providing we stay on campus.” I said. He nodded silently.

We walked around in no particular direction and stopped when we came by a bench outside.

“How do you like England then?” I asked.

“It is not much different from home. Apart from the language.”

There was a long silence as the tension began to build.

“Do you miss Japan?” I asked.

“No. There was nothing there for me.” he said as he sighed.

“You know what?” I said. “I'm bored already. Wanna sneak out?” I finished.

“Okay.” he said. “Where should we go?”

“Wait and see.” I winked. He blushed. I giggled, his blush was so cute.

We walked towards the river. It was one of my most favourite places to study. Quiet and peaceful.

“Like it?” I said.

“It is very beautiful.”

We sat on the edge. Dangling our feet near the water.

“Are all the girls like that at your school?” he asked.

“Unfortunately. Yes. You're gonna get mobbed tomorrow. Its okay, you get used to it.” He looked worried. “Yuri, just tell them there's someone else.” He looked shocked.

“Tell them you already like someone, or you have a girlfriend. It will probably help to make them back off.” I smiled.

“Thank you.” He said. “I know, I cannot keep hiding. I just never thought 'normal' life was that hard.” He looked into the sky.

I stood up. “Yeah, well I never knew that living in huge mansions with millions of pounds to spend was that hard to live with either.” I shouted as I began to run away. It really annoyed me when people thought they were better than anyone else because they had a lot of money or a cool title. I had a lot of it, attending a school full of those type of people. Big heads that think they can do anything they want to you because your 'inferior' because you don't have a lot of money. That kind of thing annoyed me so much. He ran after me, and before I knew it, he caught my wrist.

“I'm sorry. That was careless of me. I sounded very selfish. Can you at least look at me?” he said. I was looking down. I could barely see through my tears. Just typical. He was beautiful on the outside but not so much the inside. Typical. I looked up.

He looked shocked at my tears. I took one look at him and ran away. Leaving him bewildered.

I completely ignored him the next day. I let May slobber over him all she wanted. I let all the girls slobber over him. Whatever. He would have to prove his worth before I acknowledged his existence again. That would show him. He looked extremely hurt though. I guess everyone had to love him back home. Or he could make their lives miserable. But not here. He was still a person. No matter who he was or what he would become.

I was glad when the final bell rang. I walked out to the school gates to see the latest Jaguar parked outside. The darkly tinted windows scrolled down. Yuri was in there.

“Just let me take you home. I will be worried if I don't.” he said.

I reluctantly got into the car and remarked: “Don't hurt yourself trying.” As long as I got home quickly. I looked out the window. Wait, this wasn't the way home! I shot a glance at Yuri, he grinned. I glared. How dare he. Why did I trust him?

We stopped at a huge mansion. So this was his home. A tall white building, with an inside and outside pool, huge garden and even patrols for security. Amazing. But houses and money and cars had never interested me. It would take a lot more to impress me.

He opened my door. I didn't even look at him. He led me inside and guided me to what seemed like a living room. He sat down and patted a place next to him on the couch. I sat as far away as possible. He leaned his elbow on the side.

“You really fascinate me Etoile. No one would dare to do this to me at home.”

I shot a glare at him. “So now I'm a guinea pig to stare at in a zoo. Thanks, you really know how to make a girl feel special.”

The tension began to build, something was about to blow. He was seething, that I could see. All of a sudden, he started to laugh. Hysterically, like a mad man. After a few minutes I got fed up of him and stood up to leave.

“I have better things to do right now. If you will excuse me.” I said bluntly.

“No don't go.” He grabbed my elbow and pulled me back onto the couch. Wow, he was strong.

“What do you want with me Yuri?” I said, coldly. He was beginning to annoy me now.

He looked at me for a few seconds. There was something in his eyes. Something I'd never seen there before.

“I want,” he began “To properly apologize for yesterday. And I want you to accept it.” He said, grinning.

“Or what?”

“Or, I keep you here until you do.” He smiled again. “Take your pick.”

I groaned. “Go on then.”

He looked me straight in the eye and said: “I am very sorry Miss Utori, for what I said to you yesterday. It was very rude of me.”

“Yes it was. But I accept your apology.” I grumbled. He smiled triumphantly.

“Can I go home now?” I moaned.

“What if I don't want you to go?”

“Then you have to deal with it. I'm going now, or I'll report you to the police for harassment.”

He seemed amused by this. “Never mind, I'll let you go this time.”

I began to walk out.

“Oh and Etoile!” I turned around at this. “See you tomorrow morning.” He winked. I grinned back. Perhaps we could be friends.
