Jenny is a little girl. Timmy is a little boy. Jenny likes cars and the colour blue. Timmy likes dolls and the colour pink.

Over breakfast, Jenny’s Mum asked Jenny what she wanted to be when she was older. “I want to be a doctor!” Jenny said happily. “You can’t be a doctor, Jenny.” Said Jenny’s mum. “You are a girl.” Jenny nodded, not wanting to upset her mum.

In Timmy’s house, Timmy’s mum was getting Timmy ready for school when she asked what he wanted to be when he was older. “I want to be a nurse.” Timmy smiled. “You can’t be a nurse, Timmy.” Said Timmy’s mum. “You are a boy.” Timmy nodded, not wanting to upset his mum.

At the park, Jenny’s sister wanted to play Mums and Children. But Jenny didn’t want to play Mums and Children. Jenny wanted to play Rugby. “You are a girl.” Jenny’s sister said. “Rugby will get us dirty.” Jenny nodded and they played Mums and Children.

Timmy’s brother wanted to play Football with Timmy. But Timmy didn’t want to play Football. Timmy wanted to play cooking. “You are a boy.” Timmy’s brother said. “Cooking is for girls.” Timmy nodded and they played Football.

On the way to pre-school, Jenny’s dad asked Jenny what she wanted to be when she was older. “I want to be a pirate.” Jenny said happily. “You can’t be a pirate, Jenny.” Said Jenny’s dad. “You are a girl.” Jenny nodded, believing her dad.

Timmy’s dad asks Timmy what he wanted to be when he was older. “I want to be a mermaid.” Timmy said happily. “You can’t be a mermaid, Timmy.” Timmy’s dad said. “You are a boy.” Timmy nodded, believing his dad.

At pre-school, Jenny and Timmy saw each other and smiled. “Hello.” Said Jenny. “Hi.” Said Timmy.

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” Jenny asks Timmy.

“I want to be a princess.” Said Timmy. “What do you want to be?” He asks Jenny. “I want to be a prince.” Jenny smiled at Timmy. Timmy smiled and Jenny. “Want to play?” Jenny asked Timmy. Timmy nodded and said “Yes. But what shall we play?” “Let’s play Prince and Princess!” Jenny said.

Timmy’s and Jenny’s mum came to take them home from pre-school. The mums saw Jenny and Timmy playing Prince and Princess. Jenny ran to Timmy. “I will save you princess.” Jenny said. “Help me prince. I can’t escape on my own.” Timmy said.

The mums smile at their children.

Jenny and Timmy see their mums and run to them. “Mummy!” Jenny cried. “When I grow up, I want to be a prince.” “Mummy!” Timmy said. “When I grow up, I want to be a princess.” The mums look at each other and smile. “You are a girl Jenny, and you are a boy Timmy.” Jenny’s mum said. “You can be whoever you want to be.” “You make a very brave prince Jenny.” Timmy’s mum said. “And you were a good princess Timmy.”

Jenny is a little girl. Timmy is a little boy. Jenny likes being a prince. Timmy likes being a princess.
