Jason Brooks_Forest Rangeri(Chapter 1)
toothbrush......checked......towel.......checked......toiletaries,clothes, extra jumpers....checked........thats it......thats all i will need here. As i finish unpacking, i check for other stuff that im gonna need here.
I grumble as i take my soap and towel ....how the hell did i get here?
i mean c'mon....im Jason Brooks....star student of St.Pete's university....with my masters in zoology.....i should have been a fully qualified researcher or a field study scientist or something......with scopes for the highest paid jobs in the field of science....HOW DID I END UP HERE????
i cant help it now.....this was the only offer that ACTUALLY came to me after a couple of african wildlife conservationists had come to my college for a demonstration ....the principal must have praised me as usual.....thank god he did......bcoz i was sick of nothing to do.....and seeing all my buddies.....who held a silent contempt for animals......rise to positions in companies.....high enough to have a duplex in the city and porsche in the backyard.....
anyways.....whatever happend is of no use....no i am here.....in a village (namely azoole) somewhere in the middle of africa ........with a huge wilderness......and even though my earnings are of no paricular greatness....i still have to be happy with my job.
im done with my shower....and as i come out i see Mr.Dupree....the man who gave me my job...standing in the doorway of my small house-hut-hybrid. he works in the city...in the deparment of wildlife conservation of africa.....one of the largest of its kind
While i put on some clothes...he instructs me on how i should go around my job...get up in the morning....patrol the forest area for any sign of poachers.....and in case i see any i should use the Nagant M1895 revolver (the cheapest of all)......and if i see any injured animal....i should either ,use the stungun in case of emergency, and then contact the medics , directly contact them..in general cases.
we were just gettin to normal chatting when suddenly.....a local came rushing to us...and he said babbled something to Mr.Dupree in Swahili...the local dialect.
although i could not quite understand thier conversation ...i could sense something was wrong.
Mr.Dupree turned to me,"Mr.Brooks...im sorry to disturb u but....we have a problem here."
no.....not on my first day....
"it seems that a kid has disappeared....some boys last saw him entering the forest.....his parents are worried..could u find him?"
and then the man....probably his father....broke down into tears....
I wanted to lie around that day and read my book....but there was no other choice.....i had to find tht kid....
and so i got into the jeep with his father and drove off....
(to be continued.....)
