The quiet was soon broken by a voice that Mohinder hardly recognized. Well, the tone, at least. As she spoke, he froze, mind reeling with how to handle this situation. Normally confident Claire changed right before his eyes, and he couldn’t help how his blank face transformed to a caring expression. The stethoscope was quietly set aside before Mohinder followed his instincts, gently wrapping his arms around her in a protective hug as he thought of the exact words to say. This was a delicate situation and he needed her to know he was there for her as both her doctor and a friend.
“I’m not an expert either, so we could work on it together, perhaps? I’d like to make you smile as well, if you’ll allow me.” From that angle, his nose was almost touching her cheek and his tone was close to a whisper. “Now it is my turn to be honest. Yesterday was the first time in a very long time I’ve had such chemistry with someone. At least, on my end. Our kiss meant something to me. Just being close to you right now means so much. The fact that you shared your insecurities with me, I have no words. I think that was the first step though - being honest.” Now he gave a bright smile, hoping all that rambling made sense. Hoping she understood what he was trying to say.
