It's in the Blood // Claire & MohinderMature

If Mohinder could have read minds, he would have been under the table in embarrassment by now. Luckily, he couldn’t and had no idea what he was in store from with this mysterious, beautiful woman. Her words did cause a sudden chill up his spine though. "Y-yes, body chemistry,” he repeated in a somewhat relaxed tone thanks to the alcohol in his system. His gaze - halfway in a trance - accidentally roamed over her delicate neck and shoulders before he caught himself. Okay, maybe the sake had helped a bit too much.

Vanilla and musk, he repeated mentally, making a note for later as he sipped on his cold drink and nodded along to her plan. “That sounds lovely. Usually I’m the one teaching another, so this will be refreshing. I can’t wait.” Now that he thought about it, Mohinder couldn’t remember the last time he had a woman in his lab actually using the equipmentand not just the top of a table. “I can’t wait to have you as a lab partner.”

At her less than confident statement, he insisted he was correct with a firm nod - she wasremarkable. From what he knew so far, she was sweet and docile, and did not deserve such a curse for something that was supposed to be a gift. Yet, here she was, living with it every single day. She even had given up bacon because of it. Now that was dedication.

Just as he was about to reassure her of how brave she was to live with such an ability for so long, it dawned on him that she did not seem bothered by calling this a date. “I’m enjoying myself as well,” he said with a shy smile as he glanced down to his food. “But yes, calling this a date would be fine with me as well.” With that out of the way, he scooted over in the rounded booth to sit closer to her. “I’m sorry, where are my manners. Would you care for some of my spring rolls? They only have vegetables in them.” Yes, he got closer to share food. That was his story and he was sticking to it.

“Seriously though, you’re very brave and I will do everything in my power to help you.” Mohinder was smiling at her now, unsure of what else to say but enjoying her presence all the same. After nudging his plate towards her so she might take a spring roll, he patted the top of her hand in a comforting motion. “Tests can continue in the morning, if you’re up for them.”

The End
