Chapter One - A Three Year Late Invitation

Thirteen year old Isis stared at the envelope in front of her in shock. She reached towards it, her hands shaking. It can't be, she thought as she picked up the thick envelope. In front, surrounding the letter H, that represented what Isis perfectly knew and had heard of, was a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake.

Opening it up , she stared at the words written on the parchment.

Dear Ms. Isis,

We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Withcraft and Wizardry. As per your age (thirteen years old), the rules inform us to put you into third year. However, we will test you to see if you are capable of  the standards you need to know.

"Unbelievable," she muttered as she sat down on her bed.

Her golden feathered owl, Artemis, hooted softly. Isis looked up at her, stroking her as she spoke, "A three year late invitation Artemis. Do you understand what this letter means?" Then staring back at the parchment she said, "It means I'm finally going to go where I belong."

Artemis perched herself on top of Isis's shoulder as she headed out her small house.

"I'll do fine on the test Artemis. I know I will. After buying all the textbooks they probably needed for each year and studying page through page of each of them, I'll pass."

Isis had the habit of talking to her only friend everyday. After growing up with no siblings, no parents and no family; Artemis was her only solace.

"Of course they'll ask me to do spells I bet and that's going to be my weakness since I haven't practiced any wand work. That's probably going to be the only thing I have to catch up on."

She headed to Gringotts Bank to get the money she needed to buy her supplies. Yes, Isis Taylor was an orphan abandoned by her parents, and yes, she lived alone in a small cottage, but she was rich with money that she wouldn't finish in a lifetime.

It's time I get my head back onto my shoulders and finally learn some real magic.

The End
