Shakunthala 1.2

Shakunthala 1.2

Unknown to the Apsara, a mortal prince, Akash had heard them singing and watched from a distance. He had at first sight fallen in love with the beautiful Shakunthala. Returning to his palace, he seated himself and began to play his Zitar. As he played, Akash imagined in his mind's eye the beautiful form of Shakunthala, and sang;

As you sleep,

I can imagine,

You are more beautiful,

Then when you are awake.

Whose princess are you?

Whose sweetheart are you?

Like the lovely fireflowers,

Like the deep red roses,

Whose princess are you?

Whose sweetheart are you?

As you sleep,

I can imagine,

You are more beautiful,

Then when you are awake.

I will scatter rose petals,

Over your slender feet,

And clasp your fair hands,

Forever in my own.

Show me the way,

Lead me through,

The tunnel of love,

For you are my princess,

You are my sweetheart.

The End
