Yeah sure my life sucked, sure I really despised her, but I never wanted this. If you want a happy little story about a princess and her magical pony, you've come to the wrong place.
I hated my life. Plain and simple. Ask anyone I knew, they would tell you to stay clear of me, Janet Clyde. They all knew my dad, the man thats been in jail four times. My mom divorced him many years ago. I was only three at this time.
My mom claimed that after she became a christian, se left him. She was very religious, but I absolutely despise her. I never knew why she still let me see my dad, he was always high on something or absolutely drunk. As I got older he became slightly abusive, I never told my mom. She would get over protective and not let me see him any more.
One day my mom and me got in a fight, a big one. She got in my face about my boyfriend and me. She told me he wold surely cheat and break my heart, but I told her how wrong she was. When he found out, he told me it was over. This was clearly her fault, no doubt.
I had had it! No way could I live with this witch any longer. I moved in with my dad. It was my last year in high school. I had no friends. No plans. No money. Horrible grades. What was I going to do? The only money I really had was from my job at Wallmart. That covered the bills and food, not much else.
I don't know how my dad still got his drugs and booze, but he somehow got it.
Yeah so I really was living in a nightmare.
It was time for school, I woke up late again. I ran a brush quickly through my straight, dark hair and through on a pair of jeans and hoodie. I grabbed a poptart and ran out the door. Thankfully I made the bus.
"Good morning Janet." said the chubby bus driver.
"Good morning Ms. Hayes."
I sat in my regular spot. About ten seconds later Shane walked in. He had black hair and silver like eyes. He was totally out of breath.
"Sorry I'm late, Ms. Hayes."
"Thats alright Shane."
He dropped into the seat behind me laid his head back and closed his eyes. Shane was like me, broke with no friends. I'm sure he had no idea what to do with his life after this year was over.
Third period. I sat next to Shane, I never really talked to him till today. It was a group assignment.
"What are we suppose to do?" he asked me with a yawn.
"I don't know. I thought you were paying attention."
He shrugged. "Why don't we just copy what the geeks are doing."
We stopped trying after five minuets. "I'm done trying." I said.
"I am too. It's just not worth it."
We talked till the period was over. At lunch I noticed that shane was sitting by himself, like I would be in about five seconds.
"Hey. I figured there's no since in us both sitting alone." I sat next to him.
He nodded once. Again we talked till the end of lunch. I really started to like him.
When I got home, there were bottles all over the ground and everything smelled like smoke. My dad was passed out on the couch. I threw my shoe at him, he woke up instantly.
"Dad! Bedroom! Now!"
He stood up muttering something under his breath. He gathered up he blankets and started to his room. I saw a cop car pull up next to our house.
"What the heck did you do this time dad?"
"I did nothing!" he yelled and slammed the door to to his bedroom.
A cop was knocking on our door. I opened the door.
"Can I help you?"
"Are you Janet Clyde?"
"Well we have some bad news. Your mother, Joyce, is missing." I felt my mouth drop open, then I went completely numb. "All that we can find is a broken door, a few broken possessions, and some blood."
I couldn't believe this. I nearly fainted.
