"No buts!" My father roared, and my mouth immediately shut. "You will do as I say, Devarion. I am your father, but more importantly the king. Everything I do is to protect not only you but the kingdom as well."
I nodded once. "As you say, father." I replied, my jaw clenched.
He sighed. "Please." He took a step forward."Son, you know I love you. But this is very, very important. You know the state that our kingdom is in, and this... it could bring us back our glory."
I nodded again in understanding.
My father hugged me. "I'm proud of you, son." He whispered in my ear, a brief moment of affection before he pulled back and once again became the king.
"She will arrive tomorrow. I advise you to prepare."
I left the room, my mood even darker than it had been before. I suddenly realized that holding it in was not good. I needed someone to talk to.
