I heard the door slam loudly making my ears ring, I sighed and looked at the blood covered cloth in my hands. I never understood why he felt the need to hide and cover up his true feelings. We have been friends for years but he still didn’t trust me and that is what killed me the most. I sighed and laid the cloth down on the stone in front of me, and walked out my shoes making a soft click as it made contact with the ground beneath me.
“Hello Miss Monroe!” I heard a cheerful voice say in front of me, I smiled softly looking at the young woman in front of me, her bright blue eyes and golden locks shinning in light that danced along the corridor.
“Hello Michaela, how are you?” I asked softly, she was always kind to me despite what I was, her tan face suddenly twisted into a look of concern as she looked up at me.
“Honestly, I am worried, the prince hasn’t been himself lately, and there are rumors-“
“Rumors, what about?” I asked crossing my arms across my chest, she looked around as if she was looking for people that were going to rat her out.
“There is talk that Kingdom is going into debt and that we are running out of food, those vile creatures keep killing our cattle and destroying what little supply we do have. But the King has something planned, I just don’t know what.”
“MICHAELA!!”A loud scream was heard making the slender girl jump in fear.
“I’m sorry Miss Monroe, I must take my leave.” She said bowing slightly before sprinting down the hall. I stared at the spot before me as if it would tell me answers, I shook my head and began walking out to the courtyard. It wasn’t my business to interfere with the relations and politics of the kingdom. I sighed loudly as I heard someone walk up next me.
“Hey, you seem to be in deep thought what is on your mind?” I heard a soft tone say from my right I looked over to see one of Devarion’s other friends Adrian. He was a cute man, he had beautiful honey colored eyes and chestnut hair that covered his left eye. He was kind but something about him rubbed me the wrong way at times.
“It’s nothing, I’m just worried about the rumors that are fluttering about. Do you know if they are true or not?”
“If they are you shouldn’t think or act on anything.” He said sternly, I rolled my green eyes at him in annoyance.
“I don’t need you or anyone else’s permission regarding this. I am going to try and help Devarion and more importantly the king.” I said turning on my heels and storming off.
