Her second "Ahh" wasn't any better than her first. Poor little one. The scowl on his face deepened. He felt her tense beneath him, but he wasn't sure why. Was it something he said? Possibly. Unless this exam was making her more nervous than usual, which, judging from her behavior in the past, he doubted it. "Just relax, my darling. Let me have a look here." He peered down her throat once more. This wasn't good. He sighed deeply, turning to throw away the tongue depressor then shining the light into each one of her pupils.
"How do you feel, my sweet girl? Tell me." He reached back into the doctor bag, pulling out a thermometer and slipping it into her ear. If he wasn't so worried about her at the moment, he would have her get on all fours and check it rectally, the way he knew she liked it, but there were more pressing matters at hand.
