A story about Teddy Geiger and a lawyer in charge of babysitting him
"Jury, have you made your final verdict?"
I looked up towards the jury, eyeing them in a somewhat threatening manner. My ice-like eyes shot through their souls, causing a shiver to run down the man's (who was speaking for the jury) spine. He took a deep breath then turned to face the judge. I looked back towards the Judge, my un-natural dark brown hair moving along with my rotation of my head.
"Yes, your honor. We, the jury, find Mr. John Theodore Geiger II guilty of drug and alchohol abuse." He stated. I turned to face Geiger with a slightly smug look on my face. He scowled at me then turned back to the judge. i too turned back. I just had to hear this spoiled musician's sentence. The Judge nodded and turned to Mr. Geiger.
"Mr. Geiger. You are hear by sentenced to a year in a Rehabilitation Center." He stated. Mr.Geiger suddenly leapt up.
"Your honor, please! I'm in the middle of a tour! isn't there some other way?" He asked. The judge simply shook his head. Mr. Geiger's lawyer ran up and began talking to the judge. i leaned in, trying to see what they were talking about. Something suddenly caught the corner of my eye. I turned to see Mr. Geiger winking at me. I glared at him and sat back down, looking forward calmly as Mr. Geiger's lawyer ran back down. The judge cleared his throat, then began to speak.
"Mr. Geiger, your lawyer has stated to me that you have seen the error of your ways and are wishing for a fresh start. is this correct?" He asked. Mr. Geiger turned to look at his lawyer, who simply gave him a look. i knew that look. the say yes or your screwed look. I rolled my eyes and turned back to the judge.
"Yes your honor. this is true." Mr. Geiger said. The Judge nodded.
"Well then, if you can prove this to me, i will take away your sentence." He stated, "you will be spending the next few months being observed by another person. if you can prove to them that you are able to stay away from drugs for that amount of time, then you will not have to go to rehab. Court is now closed." The Judge stated. Mr. Geiger walked past my table and smirked, casting me another wink. I glared at him and stood up, walking back out into the light. I walked past all of the paparazzi and into my car that was waiting for me. I angrily opened the door and sat inside. I looked out the window as the car took off, irritated.
"Fucking hell!" I snarled.
"bad day?" A voice asked. I spun around to see Mr. Geiger in the car next to me, raising an eyebrow as his mouth turned into a cruel smirk. I turned back around, muttering as many curse words as i could muster up. Mr. Geiger sighed.
"Come on, at least let me buy you a drink." He suggested. The car suddenly came to a halt at my appartment. I opened the door and walked out. i bent down and looked at Mr. Geiger straight in the eyes.
"Mr. Geiger. You're on probation for drugs and alchohol abuse. Buying me a drink might not be the best idea." I stated, then slamed the door. The car almost immediately took off. I stormed upstairs into my appartment and began slurring curse words as i unwrapped my microwavable meal. The phone suddenly started ringing. I sighed and answered it.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Hey Vandenberg." My boss said happily.
"Hey Mr. Ramsey" I said calmly. My boss, Mr. Josh Ramsey was in a band for awhile until one day the band fell through and he became my boss, and a good friend of mine. note the casual greeting.
"So you lost the case, Vandenberg?" He asked. I sighed.
"Yeah. Geiger's lawyer-"
"Is that another microwaveable meal, Vandenberg?" He asked. I gave the phone a weird look, despite the fact that he couldn't see it.
"No... why?" I asked. Mr. Ramsey laughed.
"Well, i can hear the microwave in the background. Anyways, i have a job for you. How do you feel about babysitting?" He asked.
"Mr. Ramsey, I'm a lawyer. I havent babysat since Highschool." I stated. Mr. Ramsey sighed.
"Come on, Vandenberg. You're the only one that I can trust enough to do this." He moaned.
"Fine. on one condition." I said.
"What's that?" He asked.
"I get a raise." I stated. Mr. Ramsey made a clicking noise with his tongue.
"Fine. you'll get a raise. now hurry on down to the office now. You'll meet you client there." He said.
"Got it. See you soon." I said, hanging up. I grabbed my jacket and scarf, then looked in the mirror. my hair had fallen out a bit. i quickly pinned it back up, then walked out of the house, locking the door behind me. I walked down to the street and hailed a taxi, then rode down to the station. I walked in, sighing. I placed one hand on Mr. Ramsey's office door, then slowly opened it, closing my eyes. I walked in blindly.
"I'm here Mr. Ramsey. Now who's this guy that I..." I started, opening my eyes. But my voice stopped when I saw the client in front of me.
"Your kidding me. This is the girl?" Mr. Geiger asked.
