"Do poems have to rhyme?"

I asked and gave a little sigh

"No they don't" said the teacher

That was her reply

So I started writing poems

trying not to rhyme the verse

but they ended up sounding

so very much worse

I do like writing poetry

but I don't have much time

so I'll do the one's that I do best

and they're the ones that rhyme

I can do them funny

or I can do them straight

but being a poet

I don't think was my fate

I'm okay at rhyming

and that is plain to see

but I'll never be a poet

So I'll stick to being me
