We were going to the beach. Just another typical day in New Jersey. It was May, my sister was almost graduating. Heather and Jordan were coming. And Mickey and... Amber.
We decided we would take Mickey's car, since his was the biggest. And since I lived the closest he picked me up first. Jordan would ride shotgun and Heather and I would sit in the way back. Amber in the middle aisle. Mickey rang my doorbell. I was still upstairs, so my sister answered it. I came downstairs running, my freshly straightened auburn hair blowing back. My tote carried my strapless bra and underwear, my strapless green top that stopped at my chest and flew out like a dress, and my short jean shorts. My white bikini was underneath my strapless blue summery dress that came an inch above my knees. I wore brand-new sandals. My wrist was covered with several scrunchies and my neck wore the locket Mickey gave to me.
Mickey stared at me. My sister looked at Mickey to me.
"Hey, Mel, why'd you have to look sooooo hot? Look what you did to him." my sister said jokingly.
I smiled spinning like a princess. Which I'm not.
Mickey glared at my sister.
"Hey Samantha," he said, "at least I'm not under the spell you put on your boyfriend."
I laughed and Samantha walked away offended.
My mom walked out of the living room.
"Okay, baby, I trust that you'll always be with Mickey and your other friends?"
"Okay, baby, have fun."
I kissed her on the cheek and waved by to my sister. Mickey held my hand the way to the car.
In the car, Mickey kept glancing at me from the rearview mirror.
"Sweetheart," he said, "you don't mind if Amber comes, right?"
"No... not at all."
"Ok. I see you wore the locket."
I smiled. We picked up Amber. Her blonde hair was tied up in a high ponytail and she wore a halterneck tank top and a short denim skirt. He ponytail bounced along with herself. She came in the car and kissed Mickey for a long time.
"Hey baby," she said.
"Hey," he said.
We drove to Heather's and Jordan's house and off we went to the beach.
