If I could keep my mouth shut

If I could keep my mouth shut

Learn to zip my lip

and not trip

on words never spoken

a hush hush token

would fall at your feet

half formed and incomplete

An embryonic sentence

Semiotic repentence

A silent laugh

No teeth and smiles

You've travelled miles

through green and grey

to hear the words

I want to say

to make you pay

But with no wish to be derided

I've reluctantly decided

to play mute
