In the midst of a bitter war, a young, parentless child was hit with a poisoned bullet. She had been shot deliberately by a truly evil man for no reason except the joy it brought him to see another suffer. As this bullet hit her, something happened to both man and child and they were suddenly bonded by something that was both a gift and a curse, that brought both pain and pleasure. This power bestowed on them both is known to humankind as Magic.
