Sucking in a breath of air too fast and too deep, I jerked the door open, ready to attack.
“Ooowa,” Adam burped, pointing his finger at the explosion of colors in the form of a bouquet, being held forward by a hand poking under the sleeve of a long and muddy rain-coat. A very big, ugly, serial-killer type rain-coat. I had no reason to be scared though; cause beneath the hood was my handsome and oddly enough, soaked-to-the-bone boyfriend.
“Hi,” he said, in a breathless whisper. “Flowers on a rainy day for the madam and Adam?” Jensen gestured at my right hand and added, “And a vase, ready at hand, literally!”
“Oh, it’s just you.”
“You could sound a little more excited you know,” Jensen grumbled as he let himself in after I stepped aside. “And what’s up with the vase?”
“I thought you were going to kill me,” I stated. Jensen glanced at me over his shoulder, eyebrow raised, as he stepped out of his dirty shoes. “What? I thought you were a serial killer, okay? Apparently that transvestite one is still out on the loose, according to Lea.”
“Well the only one I’d want to kill is Adam here cause he’s too cute!” Jensen begun to kiss him all over before turning to me and going, “Fine, fine, you too.”
Standing on my toes, I gave him a quick peck on the lips. Jensen smiled at me, then shrugged off his rain coat before joining me in the living room.
“Why are you all wet by the way?”
“It was raining over on my side of the town. There's a forecast of a heavy thunder storm tonight too; I didn’t like the idea of you being alone in the house at all so...here I am.”
“I wouldn’t be alone, I have Adam here.”
Jensen grinned at me. “Yeah, Adam. And he’s braver than you. Now pass him over to his favorite person in the world, will you please?” Rolling my eyes at Jensen’s modesty, I gave Adam over to him who begun to smile and laugh almost immediately. “I mean, come on! The kid loves me.”
I raised my hands up by my side. “Hey, I’m not denying it.”
“How’s the term paper coming along?”
“Horrible,” I croaked, running my hands through my hair. “I haven’t typed a word - still in the research stage.”
Jensen stood up with Adam and cocked his head towards the staircase. “I’ll take care of Adam and put him to sleep, you go on and do your work.”
“Really?” I perked up.
Letting out a happy yelp, I jumped to my feet and gave him a grateful hug. “I love you so much, thanks sweetie.” Giving Adam a nice big sloppy kiss on the cheek, I skipped up the stairs and towards my room, shutting the door behind me.
