Chapter Sixteen (Part 18)

That got my attention. His eyes were guarded, focusing on our hands instead of on me.

“No, of course not.” I squeezed his hand and his eyes finally swerved to meet mine. The guilt in them was genuine and made me want to convince him faster that things were perfectly okay. “It didn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all, so don’t feel bad about it. You didn’t do anything wrong.”

He didn’t seem too convinced. “ wasn’t the kiss know?”

It took me a while to understand what he was getting at but when he did, I couldn’t help but giggle. Placing a hand on his shoulder, I said in a serious voice, “All reports indicate that you have nothing to worry about in that area of physical activities Mr. Sterling.”

Jensen fought a smile and shrugged my hand off of him. “Honestly though Roxanne, if you ever feel like I push you for too much too soon, you can tell me and I’ll stop.”

“Thanks Jensen,” I said. I appreciated that he was saying all this, but just when  I thought we were off the topic, he got to his feet abruptly, making me jump.

Standing before me, he boomed in a voice that could have shook the Earth, “I’m a guy, Roxanne.” He paused and I chewed on my lower lip, eyeing him up and down.

“Last time I checked, yes, you are a guy Jensen.”

He covered my mouth with his hand to shut my snippy remarks, crouching down so his head was on level height with mine. By the shaking of my lips, he could tell I was laughing but in his decided act of flamboyance, he continued.

“I would never think to disrespect my girl; I would never think to disrespect you. But you have to understand that I’ve wanted to be with you for years now and now that I finally have you...”

Jensen dropped his hand and gazed at me with a growing smirk on those heavenly lips of his. I couldn’t tell if he was doing all this to make me laugh, for the satisfaction of seeing me go beet-red but I sensed truth behind his words. And it was that hint of truth that made me sit there, transfixed with no words to say back.

The End
