Once I’d left my new boy toy in no doubt of where I lived, I went off to see Cayden. I might be riddled with morning after guilt, but I guess I wasn’t really cheating now I’m dead, right? And Hadley did tell me to go for it with other people if there was someone I liked, didn’t he, so it’s okay.
When I got to Cayden’s, he was lazing around eating pancakes and Gage was nowhere to be seen for once. Thank fuck.
“Good night?” he asked with a smirk on his face as I walked in. I ran a hand through my hair, remembering I hadn’t bothered to fix it before leaving. I looked at his smirk and chuckled.
“Good afternoon, too.”
"Did you like my present to you?"
"I did. Thanks,” I smiled.
He smiled back. "No problem.”
"I see your own play thing has left you alone for once?"
He nodded, "I told him to go spend some time with the friends he's made up here."
"How kind of you to give his ass a break," I said, glad he wasn’t hanging around for once. I’m sure the guy’s lovely but I’ve still not gotten used to him, or forgiven him for getting Cayden.
"Watch it, you,” he kind of glared at me.
"You are a butt pirate, don't deny it."
"I'll tell your new toy to leave you alone.” Yeah, he was still glaring at me.
"Butt pirate,” I taunted, grinning.
"If you're just gonna be mean, you can fuck off,” he huffed. His huffy face was replaced with one of horror when I launched myself at him in a tackle hug. I bit his neck, remembering that was his weak spot. “Can I help you?"
"And how might I be of service?"
"You're the butt pirate here, you figure it out," I said between neck kisses as he tilted his head.
“This is why I introduced you to Ash, silly boy," he told me, rolling his eyes.
"You’re hardly fighting me off," I noted, earning myself a wide grin.
"And what if his libido isn't up to the job? What will I do then?"
"Then you'll have to find someone else, won't you? Although I find it hard to believe you've worn him out already."
"Actually, he wore me out. Apparently even my ass can get sore when I've not had any for a while." Cayden pretty much laughed his head off at that. I pouted, punching his arm lightly.
"I'm sorry, I can't help it.”
"Shut up. He's not very gentle."
"Oh sure he's not."
"He wasn't," I pouted. He didn’t seem to believe me and ruffled my hair. "You won't hear me complaining once I've gotten used to getting laid again,” I glared.
"Thank god,” he stuck his tongue out at me.
"You know I've always liked it kinda rough,” I giggled. He rolled his eyes at me. He rolled them again when I slapped his butt.
"If all you're gonna do is be a nuisance, then go home,” he pouted at me when I grinned.
"Aw, don't you love me anymore?"
"I do, but you interrupted me and my pancakes." I put my hands up in surrender and he took a victorious mouthful. “Now, either go see your boy toy or go watch Hadley like the creep you are."
"I don't really feel like watching Hadley right now. Especially not now he's with a chick." I wrinkled my nose.
"If I know him as well as I do, he'll have chickened out of the sex for now."
"For now,” I said sulkily.
"Excuse me, Mr sulky pants, who out of the two of you was the first to fuck someone else?"
"Shhh." We all know I’m a whore.
"Exactly. He's not torn up over you getting with someone else while you wait for him, so you shouldn't be either. Lord knows I want nothing more than for John to find someone else but he doesn't seem to have much luck."
I sighed, "I know, I'm glad he's moving on, but I just find it hard,” I whined, hugging back when Cayden wrapped me in a cuddle. I let out a quiet hum as he played with my hair. "I wonder how the kids feel about their Papa having Eden around."
"Maybe. I've avoided going near their dreams, though. Lily might be okay with it, but I'm not sure Danny would deal with it brilliantly." I didn’t wanna make him relapse or anything.
"It's worth a shot, isn't it?"
"Probably. I just don't wanna fuck things up for them. Danny took it really hard after I died." He kissed the top of my head. "I'll go see them later,” I muttered, putting my head on his shoulder.
I let go of him and he looked at me. I flashed him a tiny smile. "Guess I should leave you to your pancakes."
"You okay?" Cayden tilted his head a little and I shrugged. I didn’t really know how I was feeling. He offered me another cuddle. Well I wasn’t gonna reject it, was I? "What's wrong?"
"I just miss Hadley. Ash is fun, but it's not the same."
"He'll do til Hadley gets here though, right?"
"Hadley's got a good few decades left in him yet, I hope,” I laughed a little, wondering whether I was sure I wanted him to have a good few decades left or not. Of course I didn’t want him to die or get hurt or anything, but... I wanted him.
He nodded, "but until he does get here, you need someone to turn to. It gets lonely up here on your own."
"I know. Guess I'd rather just have you. But you've got Gage, so I'll leave you to it."
"You know you're more important to me than him, idiot,” he said, wrapping his legs around me. I held him up against me, wondering if it’d work out if we got back together.
"Yeah? You were pretty cut up over him dying though, and now you've got him. You guys seem pretty cosy."
"I was cut up over him dying 'cause I finally thought I'd found someone that could help me get over you."
"Really?" I asked, kind of confused. He was that upset? He nodded and I planted a tiny little kiss on his lips. He returned it. "Maybe..." I trailed off, thinking and Cay gave me his curious face. "Would I do til John gets here?"
"Of course,” he smiled.
I felt my own smile growing. "What about Gage?"
"He can be my bit on the side. Same with you and Ash.” I kissed him properly this time.
"Well, if we're gonna start going out again..."
"Hey,” he protested with a pout and a frown as I stole the last of his pancake with a grin. I giggled at him sulking.
"You love me,” I reminded him, kissing his neck, "and I'll make you more, you know that."
He tilted his head for me again. "You better, Spongebob's on soon."
I laughed and littered a few more kisses over his neck. "I can show you what a good househusband I am these days." He hummed at that and I put him down, wandering off to make him those pancakes. Once they were done, we snuggled up to eat and watch cartoons. I probably shouldn’t have abandoned my boy toy for so long, but fuck it, I was with Cayden again. The least I could do was celebrate with cartoons and pancakes, right?
