Someone placed cool lips on mine. I had my eyes closed, but I knew it was Mickey. I smiled, my eyes still closed. I was so tired. I couldn't even get up. But I opened my eyes that kept trying to close.
"Are Jordan and Heather still here?"
"Yeah, they're still sleeping."
"Then why'd you wake me up?"
"Well, are you gonna wake up?"
I nodded slowly.
"Carry me," I said lifting my arms. Mickey bent down and allowed me to wrap my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist. I rested my head on his shoulder. His arms were wrapped around me. I almost fell asleep. He placed me on the couch.
"You're still tired, sweetheart," he said stroking my hair, "go back to sleep."
I slowly shook my head but soon my eyes closed. Before I shut my eyes, I saw Mickey smile.
When I woke up, again, Jordan and Mickey were awake eating pancakes on the other couch. I was on the loveseat. They didn't see me awake, they were watching some show, and Heather was sleeping under the covers. I stood up and walked to the bathroom. I stared at myself in the mirror after I washed my face. My usually apricot skin tone had turned to a goldenish tan, my eyes seemed greener, my cheekbones more prominent. My hair had turned darker, but it still had that reddish tint in it, my face was thinner. And what I like the most about my change were my fuller lips. My body was still skinny and I wished I was getting a little curvy. I brushed my teeth and brushed my hair. I walked outside. Heather had turned and I sat down next to Mickey and rested my head on his shoulder.
"Breakfast?" he asked.
"I'll go get it."
I walked upstairs and saw Lisa making a match of pancakes and cookies. I opened the refrigerator like I lived here. I practically did. I've been here so often since kindergarten that I knew this house inside out.
"Cookie?" she asked offering me one from the first batch.
"Thanks," I said as I put one in a plate and poured myself a glass of milk. I walked downstairs. Heather was sound asleep, still. It was almost 11:00. I sat on loveseat, stretching my legs and took a bite of my cookie. Summer was almost over, but everything was going ok.
