The sequel to If you Know, Or If you Don't Know.
The bell rang. It was Mickey, of course. My mom and dad were out on vacation. Bruno and his fiance, Summer were out on a date. Nick found our neighbor's daughter interesting and went on a movie date. My sister was at John's house, "talking about their relationship". I answered the door. Mickey was leaning on his hand, smiling.
"Hey, baby," I said wrapping my arms around his neck and kissing him. He scooped me up in his arms, me still kissing him, and kicked the door shut.
He placed me on the couch. It was July 15, just a month after the prom. So pretty much, we've been dating for a month. I went in the kitchen and got a water bottle from the fridge and some strawberries.
"Movie?" I said coming out of the kitchen. Mickey nodded, turning the T.V. on. I put in a DVD and sat back down on the couch. I took a strawberry and bit the tip. Mickey bit the other side until our lips met. Mickey and I pretty much had the whole house to ourselves most of the time. Bruno was usually out with Summer and Nick had some friends he hadn't seen since college started. Samantha was usually with John, and my parents had went to Hawaii on the first day of July. They wouldn't be back until August.
Mickey's lips moved with mine.
"Wait," I said against his lips.
"Why?" he said against mine.
Mickey let go. Sam was here and he sighed. I smiled assuring him that she would go straight up to her room with John. My sister came in and ran straight up to her room, sobbing. I expected John to come in later but there was just an empty doorway.
"Hold on, sweetheart," I said to Mickey. He nodded, and pressed play to watch the movie.
I ran upstairs to see what was wrong with my sister. I knocked on the door.
"Go away," said a weepy voice. the radio was on her room so loud that I barely heard her. I opened the door, anyway and walked in.
"Sam, what's wrong?"
"Why do you care?"
"I'm just trying to help."
"Right. Ok. I'll tell you. John broke up with me. All because of my college choice."
"No. It's because he's going to the University of California and me... University of Oklahoma. He said we should part ways since we are barely going to see each other. And he's going to California... and I mean, seriously, girls practically walk around in bikinis there. And you know how John is... he falls for anyone that's..."
She cried again. I sat down on her bed and let her cry on my shoulder.
"If John is that stupid... not to stay with a wonderful person like you... you should be lucky not be with him."
She grinned slightly, but then she stopped and cried.
"Thanks for trying to cheer me up. But I just wanna go to sleep."
She smiled and then tried to keep it, but then she started to cry again.
"I'm just gonna go..."
I said pointing toward the door. She nodded. I shut her door softly and walked downstairs.
"Don't open the door... no! Don't! Oh God, it's eating her alive!"
I realized Mickey was watching some horror movie and freaking out.
He jumped when I called him.
"Oh, it's you. Is Samantha ok?"
I shook my head.
"John broke her heart."
"Oh, that must really suck."
"Yeah. You're actually watching this?"
"I was bored without you."
"Yeah, you totally freaked out. I heard you."
He smiled, shyly.
"Don't worry. I thought it was totally hot."
He pressed pause on the remote. He kissed me and we started where we left off. Then I realized something.
"Wait..." I said.
Mickey looked at me disappointed.
"I just need to say something. This year is our last year together. I know you're planning to go to Columbia College, and I'm going to the University of Texas... what's gonna happen to us, baby?"
"Nothing's gonna happen to us, sweetheart. You know we'll work something out. Don't worry... I'll never ever leave you. I can't even think of leaving you. It hurts to think about that."
He kissed me.
"Don't worry, baby."
How could I not worry? Look at the state my sister was in.
Mickey pressed play on the remote. Just when the screaming in the movie began, I screamed in my head.
