An Easy A?mature
It was an regular day. Lunch had just ended so Cordelia and I strolled into our English class. We took our seats and took our English binders out. People began to run in a few seconds before the late bell rang. Of course, our own English teacher, Mrs. Melodia-or something close to that nature, because I never really bothered to learn how to pronounce her full blown last name-was late.
Since Cordelia was too busy inviting people to her party, I decided to go through a few pages of a manga that I was actually interested in. Kuni no Hearts no Alice, or to put in English, Alice in the Country of Hearts. I shot a glance at Cordelia who was talking to Griffin and Ryder about her party, once she gave Ryder a flirty bat of her eyelashes, I knew I was safe to completely get lost in the manga.
Just as Alice was about to meet Boris, who is technically the Cheshire cat, spoiler alert for anyone who is reading the manga.... A fair hand snapped my book shut and pulled it out of my view. My eyes followed it only to end up glaring at Cordelia. "What was that for?!" I exclaimed.
"Mrs. M. just waltzed in. Last time you were reading this in front of her you had to write what how many times?" she retorted, handing it back to me. "I don't even know how you can read these."
I sighed, defeated. "I had to write: "I will not read picture books." until my hand practically fell off. And it's nice to take a break from reading paragraphs and paragraphs of books." I had a big pile of mangas that I love, and then two bookshelves of books I've read, re-read, and re-re-read.
Cordelia rolled her sea foam green eyes and pointed to the board. "Mrs. M. is handing out something for a paper that we have to do." she said, passing back a piece of paper to the desk behind her.
I quickly and gently stuffed my manga book into my backpack and took the piece of paper for myself and passed it back. I looked through the piece of paper. "This should be easy." I whispered to Cordelia.
She huffed an agreement. "No kidding."
You see, in English we were currently working on Myths, Monsters, and Legends. So it was fairly funny to see Mrs. Melodia fume when the actual vampires or werewolves, or shapeshifters or witches-Cordelia in particular-would shoot up and say that it wasn't true, humans or blah blah did this because they were afraid of them. I giggled or laughed when they'd stammer or stop dead as to how they knew that.
Mrs. M. gave us a prompt for a paper, we had to write a paper on any mythical creature of our choosing, and write it through our point of view. That wasn't going to be too hard, I write about the life of a Kelpie, turn it in, and get an A. For two pages.
"Okay class, get your things and head up to the library, we're going to be doing some research on the mythical being that you are going to be writing about." Mrs. M. ordered, opening the door as we headed outside of the class.
A free day, I knew all there was to being a Kelpie, and it was not that hard to write about what I've been doing. All I have to add some fables and folklore and myths and legends in there.
Cordelia took a seat in one of the empty table in the libraries. I decided to go to the mini book fair in the library and waste the majority of my allowance on new books.
It took the entire period for me to go buy the books and I went home with a huge backpack. I dropped the backpack and dragged it to my room. I opened up my laptop and turned it on then began to work on my paper.
After two, three hours, I sat there. Staring at the blank Word screen, tying the same thing over and over again.
Hi, my name is Blair Allans and I'm a Kelpie.
Yo, the name's Blair Allans and I'm a Kelpie.
Being a Kelpie isn't all it's...
My name is Blair Allans and I am a Kelpie.
I sighed and closed my laptop, collapsing onto my bed. I shut my eyes. This wasnotgoing to be an easy A. Stupid.
