He'd watched her for a while, before he took the step of speaking to her. She was shy, quiet, the kind of girl who rarely smiled, but when she did, it seemed to light her up from the inside. She wasn't conventionally pretty, but carried an inner beauty that made up for it. She was ignored by most, but the few who really knew her, loved her as deeply as she loved them. The one thing that shone clearest about her was the love she bore her friends. They were her true family.
At first, he merely said hello, introduced himself. He made sure to bring a smile from her before he left. Just to make sure that he'd be able to get her attention again. He made sure to say hello or smile at her in the corridor, just often enough to keep her interested. He didn't want anyone else to capture her attention.
