Strange Things are Happening in HolehallowMature

Back in the bedroom Gabriel's family and friends had all followed and were sitting where they could as Dawn sat Gabriel down on the bed sitting beside him to examine the shallow cut on his shoulder.

“What’s wrong?” Sylver asked before Dawn realized that the vampyre wasn’t even speaking to tell him off as he prodded the deep scratch.

“That was too easy” Gabriel said.

“What?” Sylver grinned “that was brilliant” sounds of agreement came up from around Gabriel's twin but Dawn frowned.

“I agree” he said slowly as the worry for the vampyre beside him settled slightly.

“What are you two talking about?” Maxwell asked.

“I could have easily been killed tonight” Gabriel growled.

“But you weren’t” Sylver frowned.

“No I wasn’t but all he had to do was fall on his back or run backwards into something” Gabriel said “but he didn’t he got himself killed and that’s not like him” Dawn shook his head.

“I'm going to find out what happened tomorrow” he said looking at his watch.

“Gabriel maybe Balthazar didn’t think of crushing you to death” Sylver said.

“Unlikely” Gabriel replied “he's wanted me dead since we got here”

“I think we all need some sleep” Dawn said firmly. Sylver shrugged and stood up the others all filtered out after him until only Raoul was left. “Problem?” Dawn snarled.

“Leave him alone” Gabriel growled at Dawn.

“Luckily Gabriel” Raoul smiled “I don’t give a damn what Dawn thinks”

“Asshole” Dawn snapped Raoul grinned at him.

“I do on the other hand care about you and your family” he said turning back to Gabriel “so I'm going to join the celebrations and see what I can find out.”

“About what?” Gabriel asked.

“Anything” Raoul shrugged “there's something odd about this place and the fact that the only ones who have noticed it seem to be in this room is strange in itself” Gabriel nodded realizing that Raoul was right.

“I don’t get why though” he said “Sylver and the others aren’t stupid”

“I know and I can’t work out why they haven't worked it out” Raoul smiled slightly.

“There must be a reason” Gabriel growled.

“Like what?” Dawn asked

“That’s why I'm going to talk to some drunken daemons” Raoul smiled properly. “I’ll see you later” he closed the door behind him.

“Are you alright?” Dawn asked “apart from people being weird”

“I'm fine” Gabriel sighed “I just don’t understand why things can’t be easy for once”

“I know sweetie” Dawn said shifting closer to the vampyre. “Can I do anything?” Dawn saw Gabriel frown.

“Like what?”

“I don’t know” Dawn smiled “anything that'll make you feel better” Gabriel sighed and looked at Dawn's watch.

“I don’t know, I need some sleep but I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon” Gabriel grumbled. Dawn ran a hand gently over the vampyres hair Gabriel shivered.

“Sorry” Dawn smiled

“S'alright” Gabriel sighed he stood up and picked his bag up Dawn pushed back the urge to wrap his arms around him as he saw the vampyres wings slump slightly as he sighed again.

“What’s wrong?” Gabriel said Dawn raised his eyebrows in question. “I stood up and I don’t know I just thought you wanted to say something” Dawn smiled sadly.

“Not say something” he said “do something maybe”

“What?” Gabriel asked Dawn shrugged.
“I just wanted a hug is all” Dawn sighed Gabriel put his bag on the bed next to Dawn and looked at the daemon again.

“Well?” Gabriel frowned after a few moments an unsure smile spread across Dawn's face and he stood up wrapping his arms around the vampyre.

“I wish I could make all of this better for you” Dawn said.

“How?” Gabriel asked quietly.

“I wish I knew”

Raoul pushed his way back out of the Atrium so intent on getting to Gabriel and Dawn's room that he didn’t notice the pairs of eyes that turned to watch him as he left.

The End
