“What happened after that?” Gabriel asked
“I lived in your quarters for a while” Dawn said he paused as if wanting to say more, Gabriel waited for him to carry on. “I applied to be your personal guard” Dawn said “Aura declined” Dawn stopped again.
“I think I want another drink” Gabriel said Dawn smiled.
“Sounds good.” He said and retrieved the bottle and the mugs from the end of the bed as Gabriel sat up.
“What happened to you?” Gabriel asked Dawn poured a generous amount of amber liquid into the mugs the daemon laughed bitterly.
“I'm surprised you don’t remember any of it” Dawn smiled Dawn laughed slightly “aura came to see you” Dawn paused his eyes clouded over. ”I can still hear you” Dawn stopped.
“What?” Gabriel asked Dawn looked at him.
“You were screaming” Dawn said “I broke the door down it was my job”
“I don’t remember that”
“No” Dawn sighed “but some part of you remembers what happened next.” Dawn said
“Do I?” Gabriel asked Dawn opened his mouth to speak then closed it again.
“I'm sorry” he said, sitting up and swinging his legs out of bed. “I can’t”
“Dawn” Gabriel said sitting up too.
“I didn’t leave that day” Dawn said quietly.
“What happened?” Gabriel asked Dawn twisted around and looked at him.
“I'm sorry” he said “I'm sorry I couldn’t protect you”
“Dawn” Gabriel frowned.
“It was my job” Dawn bit his lip hard splitting the cut open again. Gabriel watched the blood pool around the daemons teeth.
“It doesn’t matter” Gabriel said Dawn looked at him closely and Gabriel grabbed the cloth from the end of the bed and passed it to the daemon.
“Thanks” Dawn said. “Look at you” he said wiping his mouth “I could have stopped this”
“Gabriel” Dawn said “she's fucked your head completely, not to mention the physical damage.”
“Dawn” Gabriel stopped and shook his head not knowing what to say.
“Gabriel she locked me in the room next to you. I didn’t know what was happening I couldn’t get out” Dawn laid his hand on Gabriel's cheek “you were screaming for days” Gabriel closed his eyes.
“I know where I was” he said “I tore my hands apart trying to get out of there”
“Where were you?”
“There was a room” Gabriel laughed bitterly “I say a room, I couldn’t even lay down in it” Dawn saw the vampyres eyes go out of focus.
“Gabriel” Dawn said sharply “that’s enough”
