They reached the field that the map pointed to in just under an hour.
“Everyone spread out” Dawn said “see if we can find anything” the others moved away from Gabriel who stayed put.
“Gabriel” Maxwell snapped “are you going to help or not?”
“No need” Gabriel growled Maxwell turned to look at him.
“Why not?” he snarled Sylver smacked the back of his head.
“I'm standing on what we’re looking for” Gabriel said he stamped his foot he grass sounding hollow beneath his boot. He stepped sideways as the others crowded around.
“How do we open it?” Sylver asked.
“No idea” Dawn said looking around for a latch or something to lift it with when it rose and what looked like two black tubes poked out of it a pair of eyes stayed inside.
“Who are you?” a voice ordered Dawn grabbed Gabriel and Sylver around the waist and pulled the backwards the others moved back too most of them unsure why.
“Put that down” Dawn ordered
“Your names” the voice said.
“Amarantine sent us we’re due to be here” Dawn snarled.
“What are you doing?” Gabriel growled at Dawn who still had his arm wrapped around him.
“Dawn” Sylver was in a similar position.
“Dawn?” the voice repeated “the Black-Lightning party?”
“Put me down” Gabriel shouted as Dawn straightened up taking the two vampyres with him.
“Sorry” Dawn mumbled putting them down.
“What is the matter with you?” Gabriel and Sylver said in unison.
“One don’t do that again its creepy and two I’d rather no one got shot” Dawn growled. The trapdoor was open now the figure inside came up with a shotgun in hand.
“Shot?” Gabriel frowned “what's shot?”
“And why does it entail manhandling?” Sylver asked.
“It’s an unnatural and painful thing” Dawn said unsure how to explain it but he glared at the daemon holding the gun.
“Sorry sire” the daemon said resting the barrel of the gun on the grass. “But I am on your orders”
“I know” Dawn sighed waiting for Gabriel to start shouting.
“Your orders?” Gabriel started sooner than Dawn had expected. “How long have you known about this place?”
“Not now” Dawn growled he ushered everyone forward and down the wooden steps into Holehallow. Dawn turned to see Gabriel standing still nearby.
“Come on” Dawn said.
“No” Gabriel growled “I'm going home” he turned away and began to walk.
“Gabriel” Dawn gripped his shoulders. “Are you insane?”
“You’re the one who tells me I am” Gabriel snarled shaking the daemon off,
“I have never said you are” Dawn snapped “until now. You'll get yourself killed”
“Good” Gabriel shouted. “At least then you can’t keep lying to me”
“Gabriel please” Dawn sighed “I’ll tell you everything” Gabriel looked sceptically at him. “Anything” Dawn added.
“Promise?” Gabriel asked
“I promise” Dawn smiled at him.
“You had better or I will remove any appendages that you have, including your tail” the vampyre growled turning and walking into Holehallow.
“I like him” the gun toting daemon grinned.
“Me too” Dawn mumbled to himself and he sighed.
