As the people began to arrive, I settled a little. These were our friends, here to celebrate and have a good time, nothing more. Certainly nothing less. We started off with a meal with just our closest friends. At the end of it, I decided to make a little speech.
"Okay, listen up you lot!" I said, and was met by a mixture of groans and laughs. " I have a little something to say before we get onto tonight's main event." There were more laughs this time.
"As you all know, there is a party tonight, in aid of a certain wedding happening soon. What you lot don't realise is quite how special this lady here is. She's beautiful, obviously, but her beauty is more than skin deep. She's incredibly kind, loving, and gentle...well, until you get on the wrong side of her! Then she will kick your ass like nobody's business. She's got a heart of gold, and a fiery temper, and she is the most amazing person I have ever met. I must be the luckiest bum in the world, because thats the only reason she would be with me."
After that I pulled Leah up off her seat and kissed her like it was the first time again. I could feel her smiling as I pulled away.
"I love you" I sadi softly.
"Love you more" she replied quietly.
It was then I noticed the fact that everyone was laughing and cheering.
"Get a room guys!" my best mate (and best man) Rory yelled from midway down the table, causing most people to laugh. I turned round, grinning.
"Jealous, mate?" I said, still holding Leah close. I could feel her laughing against my chest.
"Of your ugly mug? Not likely mister." he shot back grinnning even more. Then he got up, coming over to us.
"Seriously though guys, congratulations. I couldn't imagine a pair who deserved it more than you two."
"Thank you Rory." Leah replied quietly. "It means a lot to us."
