I lie down underneath the satin bedsheets and quilt, trying to regain my warmth. Jay walks in. "Hi," I give him a kiss when he sits down beside me. I'm ashamed, I think and he looks at me carefully in the darkness. "You shouldn't be." "But I should and I am." I whisper as he gets underneath the sheets beside me. "Why?" "I . . It's something I can't tell you. It's . . it'll upset you." "You can tell me anything, Lexi." "Jay, . . . I'm ashamed." I begin. "I . . I madeout with . . Moondancer . ." I sigh and look down sadly. "I know. My Dad has a mind of his own, too. But I know you didn't know so I forgive you." "How can you forgive me when I haven't even forgiven myself?!" I cry and turn away, trying to hide my tears. "Lexi . . look at me." I look at him, tears streaming down my face. "I love you. No matter what you look like, no matter what you do, no matter what you say." he leans over and kisses me. I snuggle closer to him and he drapes his arm around me.
