This is a fantasy/mystery hybrid story, with the heroes' main goal being to find out who the killer is and why he or she is causing them. The scary part? The killer is a magic user, and can kill you by merely thinking it. Feels kinda like a medieval Death Note, now that I think about it...
"Another one... Third strange death this month..." The captain of the royal guard muttered in a low voice, revulsion mixing with sympathy in his comment.
The scene was a gruesome one: what remained of the victim was little more than a charred husk, as if he was lit aflame inside his body and imploded. There was no trace of whoever did this, as they were now certain that this wasn't a suicide after seeing the corpse. They heard the reports... but this...
"This has to stop." The captain commanded. He turned to his subordinate. "First Judge Balthazar was found with multiple stab wounds like one would find from someone put in an iron maiden... then Magister Caspar was discovered dead, choked to death on his own tongue from what we could tell... and now this..."
"I don't know what to tell you, sir. The killer is very methodical and precise in his actions, and leaves not a trace of evidence behind." The officer responded. "This latest death especially unnerves me. It's clear that we aren't dealing with a run-of-the-mill psychopathic murderer. We're dealing with someone who knows how to kill... in ways that are just unnatural."
"So what you're saying is that the killer isn't human?" The captain answered.
"What I'm saying is that we are dealing with someone affluent in arcane powers. A wizard, a sorceress, a magician..." The subordinate listed his theories... each sounding less likely than the last.
"What we need... is an expert tracker. Someone who knows how to catch a killer. Someone who is able to see the truth beyond the obvious..." The captain finally said.
"I'll get him."
