Haley awoke once again in the familiar bed with the same old man sitting in a chair next to her. He seemed to be deep in thought, staring intensely at the worn floorboards of the room. He heard Haley stir and looked up, the fog clearing from his eyes.
“You’re awake again.”
“Yeah.” Haley’s voiced came out more strained than she thought. The man seemed to have read her mind.
“You were screaming the whole time while you were unconscious. You had a fair taste of Gollum’s hallucinogens, though I don’t suppose you remember what you were dreaming of.”
No, she didn’t. All she remembered was falling unconscious. And waking up. Nothing in between.
“I don’t remember anything.” Haley winced at her hoarse voice.
“Well thats good I suppose. It did take quite a lot of skill you calmed down.”
“I’m sorry.” Haley’s face blushed. She had caused so much trouble in the past few hours and the man didn’t seemed to blame her at all. Why? Haley suddenly realized she didn’t even know the man’s name. Or what he went by.
“No no. There’s nothing to be sorry about. Everyone makes mistakes.”
There was a pause as Haley tried to think of a way to poise her question without sounding rude.
“I suppose you want to know who I am?” The man asked first. Haley nodded. The man sighed, contemplating on something.
“Here, I go by Ambrose. But you probably know me more commonly as Merlin.”
“Merlin?” The wizard?
“Yes. The wizard. If you must say so then. Yes, I am a wizard. I am Merlin the wizard”
