I am Canadain and I am NOT as dumb as Canadians are often portrayed.  I thought I would have fun with my heritage anyways, but remember I am NOT a dumb Canadian.   ;-)

The Haiku was given its current name by the Japanese writer Masaoka Shiki at the end of 19th century. The Japanese form in their written language is a one line vertical event, unlike the current form of it that we perform in English today, which is three lines: five syllables, then seven syllables, then five again.

I remember a skit where before and after their Haiku they would announce in their best warrior voice "Haiku!"
