This is my first work. Though, this is not a chapterized story. It is a very short story. This is one of my projects in school in Algebra. it's a short story, i might add. It's very short.
She walked into an unfamiliar place and then, she was confronted by a man she doesn't even know.
God Needed To Ask
I was walking on a large garden full of flowers and covered with smooth and well mowed grass. I was wearing this weird white free flowing dress. I don’t even know where I am. This is a very weird place. The weather was fair. The clouds were spreading and forming different shapes.
I found a little bench and I sat there. It seemed that I was there for a long time.
“Darla.” Said a gentlemanly voice.
“Yes?” I rubbed my eyes. A man sat beside me. He had a disheveled brown hair with hypnotizing eyes. He wore a white crisp shirt and black trousers.
“Who are you?” I asked.
“I am a friend, my dear.”
“What do you want?” I was scared now. I think I might be wandering off in a wrong place in wrong attire and with the wrong man. This is not what I want and need. My mom told me not to talk to strangers. But, this stranger held my gaze.
“I saw this afternoon. I think you were having a hard time with your Algebra class, honey. What’s wrong? Did you even learn something?” he said.
How dare he call me honey! He’s not my crush.
“Of course I learned something!” I nearly shouted. It echoed in the whole place. He though I wasn’t learning anything! Wow! Humiliation creeps through me.
“ Ms. Camacho taught us how to graph inequalities in one variable. She even taught us how to solve for them. There are a lot of different ways. She taught us how to use the number line properly and how to plot the points. She’s great.” I said. I don’t know why I am sharing this to Mr. Disheveled Hair.
“Oh. Didn’t you have a hard time? I saw you scratching your head. It was funny observing you.” He said. Then, he chuckled.
“Ouch. You shouldn’t have said that.” I said, offended. “It was a little bit hard. No…change that…it was easy and I didn’t have a hard time solving it. Honestly, I just got challenged by some of the equations but the rest was OK.” I said, laughing.
“But why did I see you scratch your hair?” he asked.
I am really irritated by this man! Does he really have to ask!
“Maybe because…there was a mosquito above my head and I am trying to get it off me.” I said, exasperated.
“OK! Maybe you should use anti-insects next time, love.” He said.
“Wow. That’s a very helpful advice, Sir.” I said.
“You just need to study harder to get higher grades, OK? Don’t get distracted by other hobbies. Your only hobby must be math.” He said.
I feel really sleepy and I started to yawn.
“Maybe you should sleep.” He said. He wound his arms around my waist and held me to his chest. He hummed me a lullaby.
“Who are you?” I was mystified.
I drifted but then, before I closed my eyes, I heard something.
“I am your guardian angel and God needs an update.” He said while humming to me.
Then, I woke up to the present.
