You don't know.
The idea of god will always remain an idea. There are countless examples as to why any deity set forth by a religious institution does not exist.
The first being that man had defined God himself. This is just impossible. If God is so "awesome" and "omnipotent", then how can we as humans ever possibly preceive him? We can't. Therefore, every religion is wrong because their holy scriptures were written by men, not God. The Bible, The Torah, The Quran, all fabrications.
"Can an omnipotent being create a stone too heavy for himself to lift?"
God is not omnipotent! God is too allusive for our minds!
"Test your faith, drive with your eyes closed."

More of a debate than a story, I guess. But it gets us thinking, and I personally feel that it has really helped my own faith, because I've found answers to my own questions while searching for come-backs!
