Sarah sank down onto the ground the moment she left the building. What had she done? Her brother was dead... She began sobbing when she felt a hand rest on her shoulder. she looked up and saw Kyle staring down at her.
“You know, you could continue your brothers legacy. Then, maybe you won’t feel to bad anymore.”
Sarah wiped away the tears on her face.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that you could help him finish he started.”
“Oh.” Sarah looked down and stared at the ground. “But I don’t want to. I’m so tired of all this. I just can’t deal with it anymore.”
“Yes you can. You promised me.”
“But, I don’t want to anymore.”
Kyle laughed coldly.
“Looks like in the end the one who broke their promise first wasn’t me. How ironic.”
“I-” Sarah looked up, the blood draining from her face. “I didn’t mean it like that.”
“I need time to think.”
“That is time that you shouldn’t be entitled to.” He shook his head. “A promise is a promise. But I suppose you’ll know where to find me if you do decided to come back.”
Kyle sighed and left without another word. Sarah followed the receding figure with her eyes until he disappear at a corner the street.
Sarah wanted to cry. She never felt so empty before and it hurt. Hannah was dead, Kayli had killed her brother and Kyle just left her. All the support the she had was gone now and she didn’t know what to do. She couldn’t go back to the slums now, not after what she had did to them with Kyle. But then she couldn’t stay here either. At least not without Kyle. But she really didn’t want to have anymore to do with this. Everything just felt too much like a blur to her. It all just happened too quickly. She was from the slums, but she had grown up in the domes after all. She still had a dome mindset even though she had been in both worlds.
Sarah thought of Richard and the fact that he had been her brother. A new wave of tears rushed down her face she quickly wiped them away. She wonder what he looked like. He must resemble her somewhat or else how would Kayli had noticed that he was her brother. And how did she know? What if he wasn’t her brother?
But then Sarah shook her head. Kayli wasn’t that kind of stupid person. She would say something just to make Sarah upset. That was a fact that Sarah was sure about. Sarah sighed. She wondered how Kayli was faring right now.
Sarah wondered what her brother had been trying to do. She wondered if he knew about having an older sister. Or that she was up in the domes while he was down below in the slums. Was he jealous? Did he think of her? Did he hate her?
Sarah got up from the ground. She felt bad for doing this to her brother. She had to let him rest in peace. She would have to finish what he had started.
Sarah would become queen.
She go up from the ground and began heading towards Kyle’s house. Sarah was determined now. She was going to be queen.
