...ou for good. Try to keep the place running, if you can. It may not be a big place, but it does a lot of good. That’s all we can do, really, is try to make the world a better place. If I’ve done it by rehabilitating wild animals, that’s my thing.

Watch out for Georgie. He still hates everyone, and will try to take your hand off when you feed him if you’re not careful. There’s a list here of who’s left - I’ve tried to get most of them out to other homes, but a few aren’t placeable, like Georgie. Even the zoos don’t want him. Not even for breeding. Can’t blame them, really. He can’t fly, he can’t hunt, and he gets his jollies by trying to get us instead.

Look. Here I’m off track again. I was going to tell you my story.

Once upon a time, I rescued an alien. Not an illegal alien from some other country, either. A real honest-to-God space alien. Here’s how it happened...

Ginnie's place is out in the country, apart from other farms. She has a small wildlife rehab center. She is also a practicing vet, who will occasionally visit the local farmers when their normal vet can't. The Ginnie who is writing is in her late sixties, with the action taking place some thirty-forty years before.

Ginnie is a kind, compassionate woman, and a skilled doctor of veterinary medicine, and an on-site surgery.

Ginnie is short for Virginia, for those who need to know that.

I have a few more chapters worked out, but I'll wait to see who else bites, to see if it goes off somewhere else. (grins)

POSTING GUIDELINES

First off, if you don't understand how this all works, please check out our help page.
It should answer most of your basic questions.

All authors are responsible for their own content. We don't write this stuff. You do. So feel free to use a little adult humour, but please don't go overboard, or we'll have to flag the story as mature content.
Second, if you're adding a chapter to an existing story, try and stick to the theme, back-story and characters of the original story as much as possible. This makes it easier to keep the storyline alive and kicking.
When you're writing, try not to write more than one or two segments of the same story at a time. It keeps the story fresher and funnier if you let others play along. :)
Posts need to be at least 140 characters long. That's about three average sentences, not too painful, but it prevents spamminess.
Finally, try not to kill off the main character in a story... at least, permanently. It can be pretty detrimental to the storyline — it's also useless, as someone is bound to revive the character.

Note: Please be careful if you spent a long period of time writing the same branch. It's entirely possible that someone else is completing the same branch as you, and in that case, since we don't lock posts while you edit, whoever posts first will "win" and you'll have to move your post elsewhere.
