Meanwhile, inside the bar...
Laura was trying to figure out what she should do with her currently inebriated co-worker. It was hard for her to concentrate, after seeing her ex-boyfriend for the first time in four months.
She still had feelings for him, after all.
“You can’t work like this” she said to Sophie, who was staring at her feet with her mouth wide open.
“Yes...I...Can!” replied Sophie. She reached over the bar’s counter and grabbed a shot glass.
She was about to take hold of a nearby bottle of rum, but Laura was too quick, and moved it out of her reach.
“I don’t think so, Soph. I’m going to tell Rico what happened, and then we’re going to your babysitters house to get Catherine” said Laura, sounding a little annoyed.
Davis obviously didn’t want to speak to her, and now she had to work the rest of the night alone.
Needless to say, she was in a pretty bad mood.
Sophie nodded slowly and Laura went to bar’s back room, where Rico, the owner, did his business.
I wonder if I should tell her that I don’t have a babysitter, Sophie wondered to herself.
She was still still pondering this when Laura came out of the back room and pointed at her.
Her boss Rico peeked his head out his office, shook his head, and disappeared again.
“Let’s...Go” grunted Laura, as she helped Sophie stand up.
With their arms around each other, they made their way out of the bar, through the parking lot, and to Laura’s hovercar.
When both of them were seated inside, Laura pushed her car’s ignition button, and they began to levitate.
“Where to?” she asked her friend, who had her eyes closed, and looked like she was already asleep, despite only being in the car for less than a minute.
Sophie took a deep breath, because she knew what she was about to open a can of worms.
“To my apartment” she started. “Catherine is at home”.
