Chapter 1.2

“Whoa, what the hell?” said the tall figure. He was a male, with a deep voice, and Sophie could tell that he had a little bit of a New New York accent.

He looked down and Sophie lying on her side on the floor, and he saw his foot stepping on the strap of her purse.

“My bad, girl” he said as he bent down and grabbed the bag. He handed Sophie her purse, then took her hand and pulled her up.

     He was strong.

     Very strong.

Strong enough to pull a grown woman to her feet with one arm.

     He also had big muscles.

     Very big muscles.

Sophie could see him clearly now.

He had dark skin, and a nice, low haircut. He was also pretty handsome, and even seemed to have a piercing in his left ear.

“Th-thanks” sophie stuttered. She just remembered how late she was for work, and tried to take a step in the bar’s direction.

She forgot all about her new knee injury, and her shoe's broken heel.

“Whoa, girl!” yelled the man, as he saved Sophie from falling down again. “Are you okay? You look... Whack...”

“She’s messed up Red” said a smaller man. Sophie hadn’t even noticed him earlier.

“She looks like she’s on drugs or something, let’s just go”.

“Wait, wait...Hold up” said the first man, he had just noticed that Sophie was standing strangely, and saw the blood seeping from her knee. “Where are you goin’?”

Sophie’s brain was running slower than usual tonight, and after a delay she responded with “I-I’m going... To work...”

“We have a car, we’ll drive you” said the tall man. His friend didn’t look too happy, but he was extremely concerned about the safety of this pretty young girl.

“I-it’s just around the “muttered Sophie, pointing.

Without any warning, the man bent down and lifted Sophie onto his shoulder.

“This will only take a minute D, we’re not gonna be late or anything” he called back to his friend, who was walking slowly behind him.

He looked unhappy for some reason. Almost nervous.

Before they stepped into the bar, the tall man transferred Sophie from his shoulder to his arm and into his arms.

“I got one of your workers here”

Behind the bar, a blonde woman’s eyes opened wide.

“Oh my God!” she yelled. “What’s going on?”

“We found her on the floor, knee messed up, and lookin’ funny right outside" explained the tall man, while he put Sophie to sit down on a bar stool.

“Sophie are you okay?” said the woman. She bent down so that she could be face to face with her friend.

“Yeah...I’m...Good...I...Was at the dentist...Earlier...Before...And then I walked here...Well...I was walking...But I fell...” Sophie replied. Everything was happening way too fast for her right now.

“Uh-huh” said the woman while nodding. Something was definitely wrong here. “You didn’t already have something to drink...Did you?”

“What? No...I was just at the dentist and the drugs..” Sophie started to laugh. “The drugs are crazy, man!”

The blonde woman smiled, folded her arms, and shook her head. Everything was beginning to make sense now.

“I bet they are” she said reassuringly.

She turned to the two men that brought Sophie in. They looked like they were in a hurry to get out of there.

“Thanks guys. I think I have everything under control now”.
