This is a forum for all the funny quips, anecdotes, amusing tales handed down through your family, or quips from books or movies that made you laugh out loud.
You can write a brand new funny story for us all to enjoy.
I'll start off with some of the memorable skits and bits from T.V. and the movies. Not everyone will recognize the references, particularly those who have never watched Canadian or American TV. I'll try to describe them enough in detail that they will still make you laugh.
There was a famous skit from The Carol Burnett Variety show that literally made me fall over laughing. Carol is doing a parody of Gone with the wind.
In the book, Scarlett O'hara is forced to use the draperies to make a new dress so Rhett Butler won't know how poor she has become after the war.
In the skit, Carol comes down the stairs actually wearing the drapes, complete with curtain rods. As she descends, she gets all caught up in the drapes and rolls down the stairs, tail over tea Kettle.
Just about every segment of The Muppet Show made me laugh, hard. I do love those muppets. I particularly liked the swedish chef, who can't get the muppet vegetables to get into the pot to make soup.
I find Ogden Nash, the humourist poet really hilarious.
Here are some of the quotes I like best:
"Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker."
“Do you think my mind is maturing late,Or simply rotted early?
“To keep your marriage brimming, With love in the loving cup, Whenever you're wrong, admit it; Whenever you're right, shut up”
I got a big kick out of the 'lip' singer in the Star Wars canteena.
