Forever Alive, Forever Doomedmature
Prologue
She moved her way around the huge marble floor as she tried hard to keep her mask on. He has to be here, he just has to. She thought sadly. The night before was the most beautiful thing that she had experienced. But the promise he had told her. That she would never see him again was just too painful.
But when she had begged him to come to the Masquerade ball to say one last parting good-bye, well now she has to find him before the stroke of midnight, and the clock was ticking. Every tick burned a hole in her heart.
She will be forced to savor every moment of him that she was forced to have left.
Then she caught sight of him, he was leaning against the huge double doors, arms folded across his chest. She began running towards him, not caring that the pins that held her hair were falling, letting deep brown hair fall.
He smiled, suddenly; the smile faded into a horrifying scream. As she turned around to see what the scream was about, it was too late.
A large hand stabbed a small dagger into her heart. Screams erupted and he ran towards her.
She couldn't make out the words that he was whispering to her ear, her own energy failing her. Her own vision became nothing but a blur, red spots appearing in her eyes, blocking her last view of her.
And just like that, she was gone.
He held her body close to him, her blood staining his clothing. Why her? Why not him?
A bright light covered him. "Where am I?" he demanded.
"Chances." a voice said, repeating.
"Tell me where I am! Damn you! Tell me!" he dropped to the ground, his breathing nothing more than chocked sobs. "Damn you. Why did you take her?" he placed his head in his hands.
"Chances." it said, before the voice disappeared, leaving him in the light. Alone. With her dead body lying on the floor.
